RAILWAY TRAINING INSTITUTE
RTI is a registered TVET institution offering technical, vocational and entrepreneurship programmes. It was set up in order to provide the human resource for the railway transport sector.
The Institute has been identified as the Centre of Excellence for capacity building in the Railway Sector for Kenya and the region.
RTI is a recognized technical and vocational institute that offers Higher Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses in the Nairobi (Main) and Kisumu Campuses. It prides itself as a human capacity development for the Kenya Railways.
The Institute is currently pursuing the vision to become A Global Institute of Choice in Rail, Marine Transport and Logistics. The college boasts of over 7,800 students, with majority of TVET courses students willing to transit to Marine and SGR courses after the final examinations.

1. Introduction
The Kenya Railways Marine School – Kisumu Campus is a premier marine education and training centre.
It is positioned to offer quality training in the marine studies in order to create capacity needed for regional and international trade via water bodies
Vision;
To be a premier training centre for transport and logistics in Africa
Mission;
To provide practical and quality training responsive to a dynamic market through education, research and technology,
Mandate;
Providing both maritime education and training and developing vocational skills for sustainable growth of the Blue Economy in Kenya and the region.
3. Curriculum implementation
KR-Marine School has started offering Coxswain Level 3 course, Certificate in Maritime Transport and Logistics and Diploma in International freight management.
In the near future, the courses will be increased to the following STCW-IMO Model courses upon accreditation by KMA;
(i) Elementary First Aid
(ii) Personal Survival Techniques
(iii) Fire prevention and Fire Fighting
(iv) Personal safety and Social Responsibility
(v) Proficiency in Survival craft and rescue boats
Additionally, we will roll out the following maritime courses:
a) Coxswain Level I and II
b) Nautical Sciences
c) Marine Engineering
d) Marine Hospitality courses
e) Maritime Entrepreneurship
f) Maritime Business Management Courses
g) Artisan training
