Welcome to the Railway Training Institute (RTI). As the Dean of Students, I am honored to support and guide our diverse community of learners as they prepare for successful careers in rail, marine transport and logistics. RTI is a fully registered TVET institution committed to providing practical, market-responsive training that builds skilled human capacity for Kenya Railways and the wider transport sector.

RTI has been recognized as a Centre of Excellence for capacity building in the railway sector in Kenya and across the region. With campuses in Nairobi (Main Campus) and Kisumu, the Institute offers Higher Diploma, Diploma and Certificate programmes designed to meet the growing needs of the transport and logistics industries. Today, RTI serves over 7,800 students, many of whom aspire to advance into Marine and SGR programmes after completing their TVET studies.

Kenya Railways Marine School – Kisumu Campus

The Kenya Railways Marine School located in Kisumu is a premier centre for marine education and training. Positioned along Lake Victoria, the school plays a vital role in providing the skills required for regional and international trade through water transport.

To provide practical and quality training responsive to a dynamic market through education, research and technology.

Mandate:
To offer both maritime education and vocational training that supports the sustainable growth of the Blue Economy in Kenya and the region.

KR–Marine School currently offers:

• Coxswain Level 3
• Certificate in Maritime Transport and Logistics
• Diploma in International Freight Management

• Elementary First Aid
